Triggers
Start a workflow when something happens in Tailscale.
- New deviceRuns when a device joins your tailnet, such as a new laptop, phone or server. Devices already there when the workflow is turned on don't start it.
- Device waiting for approvalRuns when a device is waiting for an admin to approve it, so you can check it and approve it with 'Approve or revoke device'. Needs device approval turned on in Tailscale.
- Device approvedRuns when a device is approved to join your tailnet, including a new device added with a pre-approved auth key.
- Device offlineRuns when a device has been offline for a while, such as a server that dropped off the network. Devices already offline when the workflow is turned on don't start it until they come back and drop off again.
- Device key expiringRuns when a device's key will expire soon, so someone can sign in on it again or turn its key expiry off before it disconnects.
- New userRuns when someone joins your tailnet. People already there when the workflow is turned on don't start it.
- User waiting for approvalRuns when someone is waiting for an admin to approve them before they can join. Needs user approval turned on in Tailscale.
- Policy file changedRuns when your tailnet policy file (its access rules) is changed, with the file as it is now, so changes can be reviewed or recorded.
Actions
Steps a workflow can run in Tailscale.
- List devicesList the devices in your tailnet, with their owner, addresses, tags, approval and when each was last online.
- Get deviceGet one device with every detail: its addresses, tags, routes, key expiry and when it was last online.
- Approve or revoke deviceApprove a device that is waiting to join your tailnet, or revoke a device's approval so it loses access. Only matters when device approval is turned on.
- Rename deviceGive a device a new name in your tailnet. Its MagicDNS name changes at once, so links using the old name stop working.
- Set device tagsAdd tags to a device, remove them, or replace them all. A tagged device belongs to its tags rather than to a person, and the policy file decides what each tag can reach.
- Set device subnet routesTurn on (or off) subnet routes a device offers, such as 192.168.1.0/24, or 0.0.0.0/0 and ::/0 to use it as an exit node. A route works only once the device offers it too.
- Turn device key expiry off or onTurn off a device's key expiry, so it never has to sign in again (for servers), or turn it back on.
- Expire device keyExpire a device's key now. The device is disconnected until someone signs in on it again.
- Remove deviceRemove a device from your tailnet. It has to be added again to reconnect.
- List usersList the people in your tailnet with their role, status, device count and when they were last seen.
- Change user roleGive a user another role, such as Admin or Member. The token's own user can't change their own role.
- Suspend or restore userSuspend a user, so they and their devices lose access to the tailnet, or restore a suspended user.
- Invite userInvite someone to join your tailnet with a role. Tailscale emails the invite when an address is given; the result also has a link to share.
- Withdraw inviteWithdraw an invite nobody has accepted yet, so its link stops working.
- List keysList active auth keys and API access tokens, with what each is for and when it expires.
- Create auth keyCreate an auth key that adds devices to your tailnet without anyone signing in on them, such as servers or build agents. The key is in the result once only, as 'secret'.
- Revoke keyRevoke an auth key or access token so it stops working. Devices already added with an auth key stay connected.
- Get DNS settingsGet your tailnet's nameservers, search domains and whether MagicDNS is on.
- Set DNS nameserversAdd, remove or replace the nameservers every device in your tailnet uses. Removing them all turns MagicDNS off.
- Get policy fileGet your tailnet policy file: its access rules, groups, tag owners and tests.
