Give it who it is from, who it is to and how big the box is, and it prices the shipment across every carrier on your Shippo account, cheapest and fastest already picked out, then buys the label you chose and hands back the PDF and the tracking number. Shippo's own API wants six objects to do that; here it is two steps. Check an address before you ship to it and get back the carrier's corrected version, follow any carrier's parcel in the same six words, and declare customs on an international parcel. Orders from a shop Shippo does not connect to directly can be pushed in and fulfilled alongside the rest. Every action works on a free test key, so you can build and try the whole thing before a single label is paid for.

Check an addressCheck whether an address is real and deliverable before you ship to it, and get back the carrier's corrected version: fixed spelling, ZIP+4, standard abbreviations. Says plainly when no carrier validates addresses in that country, so an unchecked address is never mistaken for a bad one.

Get shipping ratesPrice one parcel from one address to another across every carrier on your Shippo account. Fill in the two addresses and the box; it comes back cheapest first, with the cheapest and the fastest picked out so the next step does not have to sort a list. Add insurance, a signature on delivery, an order number to print on the label, or a customs form for an international parcel.

Get a shipmentRead a quote back with the rates it was given, using the shipment ID from an earlier rate check. Useful when the quote and the purchase happen in different runs. Rates expire after about a week.

Buy a shipping labelBuy the label for a rate you were quoted and get back the file to print and the tracking number to send the customer. Waits for the carrier rather than handing back a queue position, and treats a carrier's refusal as the failure it is instead of a label with nothing in it.

Get a shipping labelRead a label back: the file, the tracking number, the carrier's delivery estimate, and whether it has since been refunded in the Shippo dashboard.
