Steps a workflow can run in HackMyIP.

  • Look up IP addressFind where an IP address is (city, region, country, time zone) and who runs it (internet provider, organisation, network), and whether it belongs to a hosting provider, a proxy or VPN, or a mobile network. Useful for spotting sign-ups or orders from data centers and VPNs.
  • Look up several IP addressesLook up to 50 IP addresses at once: city, country, internet provider and organisation for each. An entry that can't be looked up gets its own row with the reason instead of failing the step.
  • Find hostname for IPFind the hostname an IP address points back to (reverse DNS), such as dns.google for 8.8.8.8. Many addresses have none; then 'found' is false.
  • Check IP on spam blocklistsCheck whether an IPv4 address is on any of 12 spam and abuse blocklists, such as Spamhaus, Barracuda and SpamCop. Useful for checking a mail server's address, or screening sign-ups.
  • Look up DNS recordsGet a domain's DNS records of one type: the addresses it points to, its mail servers, name servers, text records (such as SPF or site verification) and more.
  • Look up domain registrationGet a domain's registration (WHOIS): the registrar, when it was registered, when it expires and how many days are left, and its name servers. A domain with no registration comes back with 'registered' false rather than failing.
  • Check email domain setupCheck how a domain is set up for email: whether it has mail servers (MX), which servers may send for it (SPF) and what happens to forged mail (DMARC), each with a pass, warn or fail and a plain explanation.
  • Check website statusCheck whether a website is up, with the status it answers with and how long it takes. Run it on a schedule to be told when a site goes down.
  • Check website security headersGrade a website's security headers from A to F: HTTPS enforcement (HSTS), Content-Security-Policy, clickjacking protection and more, with what each is for. Also lists headers that give away the software the site runs.
  • Look up networkLook up a network by its AS number (the number every internet provider and large company network has, such as 13335 for Cloudflare): who runs it and which registry allocated it.
  • Search networks by companyFind the networks (AS numbers) a company runs by searching for its name, such as cloudflare.
