How it works
Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.
Give it a CV and your own Google Docs CV template and it makes a copy of the template, fills the placeholders with what the CV says, and leaves your template untouched.
Put these placeholders anywhere in your template and they will be replaced: {{full_name}}, {{contact_details}}, {{personal_profile}}, {{skills}}, {{work_experience}}, {{education}}, {{certifications}}, {{languages}}. Each one is filled with the matching section of the CV, word for word. Where a section runs to several entries, each goes on its own line.
Nothing is invented. There is no writing step in this workflow at all: every word that reaches the copy is either text read out of the CV or the exact phrase 'Not stated in the CV', which is what a placeholder gets when the CV does not contain that section. No skill, employer, date or qualification is ever added, and the workflow does not score, rank, rate or comment on the candidate - it re-types a CV, it does not judge one. It reads only the sections listed above, so it does not copy across a date of birth, an age, a nationality, a gender, a marital status or a photograph.
Nothing is silently dropped either. If your template has no placeholder for a section the CV does contain, that section is written out in full at the end of the copy under a heading saying which placeholder to add, rather than being quietly lost. The same happens if a replacement fails for any other reason. The run then tells you how many sections ended up there.
Fill in two steps: 'cvFileLink' with the CV - upload the PDF to the step, or paste a link that points straight at the PDF file - and 'cvTemplateDocumentLink' with the link to your template. A Google Docs link is rejected for the CV, because a Docs page is not a PDF.
Reading a document is a smart action, so early runs pause and wait for someone to confirm what was read out of the CV before carrying on. Beyond that read, the CV and the finished copy stay in your own Drive and your own workspace.
