Steps a workflow can run in Research Organization Registry.

  • Search organizationsFind research organizations in ROR by name, acronym or another ID, best matches first, narrowed by type, country, continent, status, the year they were established and the date they were added to ROR. Each comes with its ROR ID, other names, types, location, website and its GRID, ISNI, Wikidata and Crossref Funder IDs.
  • Search with a query (advanced)Find organizations with ROR's query syntax, which reads every field: a city, a website, a parent organization, a date range and more, joined with AND, OR and NOT. Narrow by type, country, continent and status. Each comes with everything 'Search organizations' gives.
  • Get an organizationGet one organization by its ROR ID, active or not: its names in every language, acronyms, types, status, year established, website, domains, location with coordinates, GRID, ISNI, Wikidata and Crossref Funder IDs, and every related organization. 'Found' is false when ROR has no such ID.
  • Get several organizationsGet up to 20 organizations by their ROR IDs in one step, such as a column of IDs from a spreadsheet, each with everything 'Search organizations' gives, and the IDs ROR doesn't have.
  • Match an affiliationMatch an affiliation as an author wrote it, such as 'Dept. of Microbiology, University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA', to the organization in ROR. Gives ROR's chosen match when it is confident, and up to 10 candidates with their scores, so a workflow can send the rest to a person.
  • Find an organization by email or websiteFind the organization an email address or website belongs to, such as the University of Oxford for jane@physics.ox.ac.uk, from the domains in ROR, with everything 'Get an organization' gives. 'Found' is false when no organization has the domain.
  • Find an organization by another IDFind the organization a GRID ID, ISNI, Wikidata ID or Crossref Funder ID belongs to, to turn those IDs into ROR IDs, with everything 'Get an organization' gives. Closed and withdrawn records are found too. 'Found' is false when no organization has the ID.
  • List an organization's relationshipsList the organizations an organization is part of, the ones that are part of it, related ones, and the ones it replaced or that replaced it, 20 a page, each with its type, status, location and website, and how many there are of each kind.
