disease.sh
Read COVID-19 statistics from disease.sh, the open-source API that gathers them from Worldometers, Johns Hopkins University, The New York Times, Our World in Data, the ECDC and Apple: the final totals for the world, every country, continent and US state; how cases and deaths rose day by day in a country, province, state or county; vaccine doses given; which variants were circulating in Europe; and how much people moved about.

Steps a workflow can run in disease.sh.
- Get worldwide totalsRead the final worldwide COVID-19 totals Worldometers published before it stopped updating on 13 April 2024: cases, deaths, recoveries, tests and population, with cases, deaths and tests per million people, deaths per 100 recorded cases, and how many countries and territories reported. Comes with a one-line summary a workflow can send as it stands.
- Get country totalsRead one country's final COVID-19 figures from Worldometers, or several countries side by side: cases, deaths, recoveries, active and critical cases, tests and population, with the per-million figures and deaths per 100 recorded cases. A name, a two-letter or a three-letter code all work, and a country that is not found is listed under 'notFound' rather than silently dropped. Figures are as they stood on 13 April 2024, when Worldometers stopped updating.
- Rank countriesRank countries by one of their final COVID-19 figures - total cases or deaths, cases or deaths per million people, deaths per 100 recorded cases, tests or population - highest or lowest first. Narrow it to one continent, or leave out small countries so a few micro-states do not lead every per-person ranking. A country that never reported the chosen figure is counted and left out, not ranked as zero. Figures are as they stood on 13 April 2024, when Worldometers stopped updating.
- Get continent totalsRead the final COVID-19 totals for each of the six continents Worldometers groups countries into, or for one of them: cases, deaths, recoveries, tests and population, the per-million figures, and the countries each one covers. Largest first, by cases. Figures are as they stood on 13 April 2024, when Worldometers stopped updating.
- Get US state totalsRead the final COVID-19 figures for US states from Worldometers - cases, deaths, recoveries and population, with cases and deaths per million people and deaths per 100 recorded cases - ranked by the figure you choose. Name one state or several, by name or postal code, or leave it empty for all 50 and Washington, DC; the territories, the military and federal prisons can be included too. Figures are as they stood on 13 April 2024, when Worldometers stopped updating.
- Get a country's historyRead how COVID-19 cases and deaths rose in a country, one of its provinces, or the whole world - day by day, week by week or month by month - from Johns Hopkins University's series, which runs from 22 January 2020 to 9 March 2023. Each period carries its new cases and deaths as well as the running totals, and the answer names the worst one. Recoveries are included until Johns Hopkins stopped counting them in August 2021.
- Get US historyRead how COVID-19 cases and deaths rose across the United States, in one state, or in one county - day by day, week by week or month by month - from The New York Times's series, which runs from 21 January 2020 to 23 March 2023. Each period carries its new cases and deaths as well as the running totals, and the answer names the worst one.
- Get vaccination historyRead how many COVID-19 vaccine doses had been given, and how fast, in a country, a US state or the whole world, from Our World in Data: the running total, doses per 100 people, and the doses given in each day, week or month. The figures run from December 2020 to August 2024 (May 2023 for US states), and each place stops on the day it last reported, returned as 'lastReported'; disease.sh's own copy repeats the last figure every day since, and that padding is cut off.
- Get variant sharesRead which SARS-CoV-2 variants were circulating in an EU or EEA country, week by week, from the ECDC: each lineage's share of the cases sequenced, with its Greek-letter name where it has one, the most common variant each week, and how many cases were sequenced. Follow one variant to see it rise and fall. Covers the 30 EU and EEA countries until week 47 of 2023.
- Get mobility trendsRead how much people drove, walked and took public transit through the pandemic, from Apple Maps route requests, as the percentage change against 13 January 2020 - for a country, or one of its regions or cities. Averaged by day, week or month, with the lowest point named. Apple published these from January 2020 to 12 April 2022.
