How it works
Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.
Turns the clock-in and clock-out times your team writes down themselves into a weekly per-person total, so nobody has to add up a spreadsheet by hand on a Monday morning.
Every Monday at 07:00 it reads your 'Time entries' tab, keeps the entries dated in the seven days before today, works out the hours between each start and finish, and appends one row per person to your 'Weekly summary' tab: week ending, person, hours, how many entries were counted, how many need attention, and what to check. It only ever appends - your entries are read and never edited, and last week's summary rows stay where they are.
An entry it cannot read is reported, never counted as zero. A missing name, a missing or badly written date or time, and a finish time that is not after the start all land in that person's 'Entries to check' cell with the sheet row number, so the total you see is always the total of the entries it could actually read.
Set it up by pasting your spreadsheet link into the 'spreadsheetUrl' step. Your entries tab needs these four column headings in row 1, spelled exactly like this - the workflow reads columns by name, so the headings have to match, though their order does not: Date (YYYY-MM-DD), Person (a name or an email address), Start (HH:MM, 24-hour) and End (HH:MM, 24-hour). Change 'entriesTab' or 'summaryTab' if your tabs are named differently. Add an address to 'managerEmail' to have the same summary emailed to a manager or to payroll; leave it blank and the summary is written to the sheet only.
It records what people report about themselves. It does not track where anyone is, and asks for no location or device information.
