How it works
Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.
Send your Telegram bot /add, /list or /done and it keeps one Google Tasks list for you. /add Call the dentist files a task with exactly that title. /list replies with everything still open, each with its own task ID. /done Call the dentist ticks one off.
Ticking a task off is the one thing here that cannot be undone from the chat, so it is matched strictly. The words after /done have to be either a task's ID or its whole title, exactly - never part of a title - and the match is only ever made against tasks that are still open. If two open tasks share a name, nothing is ticked off: the bot replies with the IDs of both and asks you to send /done with one of them. That is why every line of /list carries its ID.
Nothing is ever invented. A task's title is the text you typed after /add and nothing else, and no AI reads or rewrites your message - the command is parsed by the workflow itself, so what you send is what gets stored.
To set it up, paste the chat's ID onto the trigger step - leave it blank and the bot acts on every message in every chat it has been added to, and anyone who can message that chat can add and complete tasks in the list, so use a private chat. Then put your list's name in the 'taskListName' step; if no list matches, the run stops and tells you what the account's lists are called instead of guessing. 'maxTasksListed' caps how many tasks one /list reply shows, so a long backlog cannot overflow Telegram's message limit; the reply says how many were left out. Messages that are not commands, and messages with no text at all, are ignored without a reply.
Start from a workflow that already works.
