How it works

Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.

Every Monday morning this workflow reads the newest posts in the subreddits you name, picks out the ones whose title mentions your product, and asks a model whether each is really about you before anything reaches your inbox. That last step is the point: a name like Linear, Notion or Arc matches hundreds of posts a week that have nothing to do with the product, and the model is given a one-line description of what you actually make so it can tell a question about your app from the everyday word, a band, a film or a company that happens to share the name. A post it cannot justify is left out, with its reason written to the run log so you can see what was dropped.

What survives is emailed as a plain digest - subreddit, title, a direct link to the thread and one line on why it matters - and appended to a Google Sheet as it is found, before the email is sent. That sheet is the memory: every post already in it is skipped, so nothing is reported to you twice, and it doubles as a permanent archive you can filter and sort. A mention whose link does not resolve to a real thread is skipped rather than sent without one.

Before the first run, fill in the steps at the top: the name to watch, the one-line description of your product, the subreddits (comma separated), the address for the digest, and the sheet and tab holding the log. Give the sheet these six columns in row 1, in this order: Date reported, Post ID, Subreddit, Title, Link, Why it matters. The Post ID column is read to work out what has already been sent, so keep it as the second column.

Connections needed: Reddit (reading the subreddits), OpenAI (the relevance check), Google Sheets (the log) and Gmail (the digest). It reads up to 100 of the newest posts per subreddit, so it suits focused communities rather than the very busiest ones - if a subreddit moves faster than that, switch the trigger to daily and the log will still keep the digest free of repeats. Only titles that already contain your term go to the model, so a run costs a handful of calls rather than one per post. One unreadable subreddit, or one malformed post, is reported in the run output and the rest of the sweep carries on. An empty week still sends the email, saying so, so silence never looks the same as a broken workflow.
