How it works

Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.

A support channel in Slack works right up until the moment someone is busy. The request scrolls away, nobody owns it, and the person who asked finds out days later that it was never picked up. This workflow runs on every message posted in the channel you choose and turns the real requests into Linear tickets.

It reads each message and decides whether it is actually a request for help - not a greeting, a thank you, or a reply about something already raised. Only the requests go any further; when it is a close call it leaves the message alone, because a tracker with a ticket for every message is no better than no tracker at all. A request where someone is blocked right now is opened at high priority instead of medium; the model picks between those two, and never writes the priority field itself.

For each request it writes a ticket: a short title, and a body saying what is being asked for, what is affected, and what is still unknown - with the gaps listed as gaps rather than guessed at. The reporter's own message is added underneath as the first comment, word for word, so the summary can always be checked against what was actually said. Then it replies in the Slack thread with the ticket reference and its link, so the person who asked can see it was picked up and follow it.

If the summary cannot be written the ticket still opens, carrying the original message; if the comment or the name lookup fails the ticket and the reply still happen. The one thing it will not do is open a ticket it cannot tell you about.

To set it up, choose the Slack channel people post into on the trigger step, and put your Linear team's name or key in the 'linearTeamName' step. Both Slack and Linear need to be connected.
