Turn emails into AI-enhanced tasks in Notion

Every email that arrives in your Gmail inbox becomes a task in one Notion database, already read for you. Claude does two passes over the message: one that pulls out what you actually have to do about it, and one that says what it was about. The page lands with the action items as Notion to-dos you can tick off, the summary underneath, and who it was from, when it arrived and a link back to the original at the bottom. The page title is the subject line cleaned up — 'Re: Re:' markers stripped, whitespace collapsed — so the database reads as a task list rather than as a second inbox.

Before the first run, edit the two settings at the top of the workflow: - tasksDatabaseId: the Notion database the tasks go into. It is the 32-character id in the database's URL. It ships blank and the run stops with a message until you fill it in. - titleProperty: the name of that database's title column. Notion calls it 'Name' by default; change this if yours is called 'Task' or anything else, or the page will arrive untitled.

The trigger fires on every new email by default. To narrow it, open the trigger step and put one address ('dana@acme.com') or one domain ('@acme.com') in its sender filter — worth doing, because an unfiltered inbox means one Notion page and two Claude calls per newsletter. An email that asks nothing of you still creates a page, with 'Nothing to do — this one reads as FYI' in place of the to-dos.

Connections needed: Gmail (the trigger), Anthropic (both passes) and Notion (the page). Share the target database with your Notion integration first, or the create step cannot see it. Two short Claude calls per email, so cost tracks your inbox volume. Long emails are trimmed to 12,000 characters before they are sent to the model.
