How it works

Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.

Every day this workflow searches the last twenty-four hours of news for each term you are watching - your brand, your products, the people who speak for you - archives everything it finds to a spreadsheet, and posts a round-up to Slack with a short read on the tone and anything that looks like it needs a response today.

Coverage is archived the moment it is found, before any summarising or posting. A failure later in the run can cost you the commentary but never the record of what was published.

It posts on quiet days too, saying so explicitly - a round-up that goes silent is indistinguishable from one that has broken. If the summary cannot be written the links still go out with a note; the links are the point and the commentary is a convenience. One search term failing does not cost the other terms their coverage.

The search is scoped to the past day, so the same article is not re-reported every morning, and the summary is instructed to work only from the headlines it was given rather than characterising articles it has not read.

To set it up, list your search terms one per line, choose a Slack channel, and paste a spreadsheet to archive to.
