How it works

Waiting for a crawler to notice a new page can take days. Every morning this reads your sitemap, works out which pages have appeared or changed since the last run, and asks the search engines to come and look at them.
Submission uses IndexNow, the shared protocol behind Bing, Yandex, Naver, Seznam and Yep - notify one and they pass it to the others. Google does not take part in IndexNow and still finds pages by crawling your sitemap, so this speeds up the other engines rather than all of them.
The sheet is the workflow's memory. Each submitted page is written as one row - Submitted on, Page URL, Last modified, Submitted to, Result - and a page is only sent again when its lastmod date in the sitemap changes, so nothing is submitted twice for the same version. Those five column names are fixed and written by the workflow itself; renaming them makes it treat every page as new. A page with no lastmod date is submitted once and then left alone, because there is nothing to tell it apart from its previous version.
Submissions are capped at 'maxPagesPerRun' (25 by default, 500 at most) because these endpoints have daily quotas. The pages are submitted before anything is written down, so a failure part-way through means the next run offers the same pages again rather than losing them.
To set it up: invent an IndexNow key of 8 to 128 letters and digits, save it in a plain text file named after the key at the root of your site (https://example.com/abc123.txt containing abc123), then fill in the 'sitemapUrl', 'indexNowKey' and 'spreadsheetUrl' steps. The sitemap must live on the same site as the pages it lists, and must be a sitemap of pages rather than a sitemap index. 'sheetTab', 'maxPagesPerRun', 'keyFileUrl' and 'indexNowEndpoint' already have working defaults.
