How it works

Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.

Your main community channel is where everything lands: questions, broken things, half-formed feature ideas and a lot of ordinary conversation. This workflow reads each new post there, works out which of those it is, and forwards the ones that need someone to the channel that handles them - support questions to one, bug reports to another, feature ideas to a third.

Ordinary chatter is deliberately left alone. A bot that reposts every message into other channels makes the noise problem worse rather than better, so a post is only forwarded when it clearly belongs somewhere else, and a post that is genuinely ambiguous is left in place rather than filed as a bug report it might not be. Each post can only be forwarded to one channel, posts this workflow routed itself are ignored, and a destination that is the watched channel is skipped instead of looping.

What gets forwarded carries the original context: who posted, what they said, and a link straight back to the message, so whoever picks it up can act without going hunting for it.

To set it up, paste the ID of the channel to watch onto the trigger step, then fill in your server ID and the three destination channel IDs. The three categories are fixed - support, bug and idea - and each has its own step, so point each one at the channel you want. Turn on Developer Mode in Discord (Settings > Advanced) to copy IDs by right-clicking a server or channel.

Two things worth knowing about how Discord is watched: the channel is polled rather than pushed, so a burst of posts inside one polling window is represented by the newest of them, and the trigger cannot tell a person's post from another bot's - point it at a channel people talk in.
