How it works

Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.

Every morning this workflow sweeps where your competitors show up: Google News for the past 24 hours, the social sites where buyers actually discuss vendors (Reddit, X, Hacker News, LinkedIn, YouTube) for the past week, and the software review sites (G2, Capterra, TrustRadius, Trustpilot, GetApp, Software Advice) for the past month. If you fill in a competitor's IsItDownStatus slug it also checks whether they are down right now — that step needs no account.

Everything it finds goes to Claude with one question: does any of this change how we sell against them? Funding, acquisitions, launches, pricing changes, outages, leadership moves, a pattern of customer complaints — those get written up as a short battlecard note with why it matters and a line a rep can use on a call, each with its source link. Job postings, SEO filler and same-name coincidences are dropped. It remembers what it has already read: each mention's link is kept in a stored value on this workflow for as long as its search window can return it, so a Reddit thread or a G2 review is analysed once rather than every morning until it drops out of the search. When nothing new has turned up and the competitor is not having an outage, Claude is not called. On a quiet day it posts nothing at all, so the channel stays worth reading.

Before you run it, edit the settings at the top: the competitor names, a one-line description of your market (this is what stops a same-named company in another industry from generating noise), and the Slack channel to post to. The review and social site lists are plain Google search operators — swap in the sites that matter in your category.

Connections needed: Serper (all three searches), Anthropic (the analysis) and Slack (delivery); the stored value that tracks what has been read needs none. It uses three Serper searches per competitor per run, and one Claude call only when there is something new, so two competitors on a daily schedule is six searches a day. A failure on one competitor is reported in the run output and does not stop the others.
