How it works
Everything the template sets up, and what to fill in before the first run.
Give this workflow a company filing and it writes you a set of research notes on what the filing says: for each topic you list, what the filing states in its own words, the figures it gives with the period each covers, what it does not say, and two things worth checking. The notes are added to a Google Doc under a dated heading.
It is not investment advice and is explicitly instructed not to give any. It will not recommend buying, selling or holding, will not rate the company or give a price target, and will not tell you whether this is a good investment - that is your judgement to make, from the filing. What this saves you is the first pass: arriving at the document already knowing which numbers it gives, which risks it names and which questions it leaves open.
It is also told to use only the extract it is given - no forecasting, no estimating a figure the filing does not state, no comparison to other companies the filing does not itself discuss - and to say a thing is not stated rather than infer it. Every note block ends with a line saying the notes are not advice and the figures need checking, so that boundary travels with the document rather than living only here.
You supply the filing rather than the workflow going to look for one: paste a link to a Google Doc holding it into the 'filingSource' step, or paste the text itself into that same step. Guessing which document is really a company's annual report is the step that quietly gets it wrong, so it is not a step this workflow takes.
Notes are appended, never written over, so the document becomes a running record across quarters. 'maxFilingCharacters' caps how much of a long filing is sent to the model on each topic, which is what keeps the cost of a full annual report predictable - the note block records how many characters were actually read, so a truncated run is visible rather than silent. Paste the section you care about if you want the whole of it read. Edit the 'topics' step, one topic per line, to change what gets pulled out; a topic the extract does not cover is reported as having no notes rather than being invented.
